Self Employed Earnings

Self-employed claims are notoriously difficult to administer owing to the way benefit is calculated i.e. on weekly income and the very nature of self-employed people that is the fact they can have highly changeable income. Reflective of this, we have a self employed function that can work standalone or as an inbuilt self-employed function, for eClaim and eChanges.

The form is able to:

  • capture details about the business

  • calculate a person’s earnings based upon many different categories of income in different payment frequencies

  • calculate allowable/disallowed expenditure amounts based upon your own council’s settings

  • forecast earnings and expenditure for those who have only recently set up a business.

  • calculate their income for housing benefit/local council support purposes including establishing where the person’s income will be below minimum wage

At the end of this process, the citizen will be taken back to the online form with a copy of the Self-employed form in PDF format to append as evidence. This is designed to ensure that even the most complex benefit claims can be administered quickly and easily.
