Renewals are created through the 'Application' workflow which is started automatically once a renewal application arrives from the DfT for a Blue Badge, or through a manual request for a Freedom Pass or Taxi Card.
For a Blue Badge:
The DfT passes a 'RENEWAL' indicator, but the workflow operates in just the same way as the 'Blue Badge Application'. The renewal indicator is set by the DfT when a person enters a badge number in the on-line application. You can see the Case Type of 'Renewal' in the bottom left hand corner of the Summary below. It also shown on the 'Work Items' screen (see previous chapter):
For a Freedom Pass or Taxi Card,
The renewal is requested manually by the Customer. A renewal is actioned in the same workflow as the Freedom Pass or Taxi Card Application, but for Freedom Pass or Taxi Card, it is a top level outcome at 'Initial Checks'.
Selecting 'Renewal Requested' returns the decision screen as to what type of Renewal has been requested:
Once the decision above is made, the workflow operates in just the same way as the 'Blue Badge Application'.
